Having a good memory is a wonderful gift.

I had very special maternal grandparents, and particularly very vivid memories of my grandmother. I have some treasures that were once hers too and they are very special to me. I know that a treasured object is a risk. I live in an earthquake zone and things can get broken so even more than the objects I treasure my memories.
xoShawna McComberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11296162660865309624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900207826814243001.post-68681096610185983912014-10-07T22:33:43.171+02:002014-10-07T22:33:43.171+02:00How touchingly beautiful. Such didn't apply much for one set of my grandparents, but for the other it did.

Big hugs (from Penticton once again), dear Beate,
♥ Jessica Witchcrafted Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02992822472797191121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900207826814243001.post-68535436915250418722014-10-07T19:03:45.850+02:002014-10-07T19:03:45.850+02:00It has always struck me that if there are members ...It has always struck me that if there are members of your family who you truly like, love, and hold dear, then that is a lucky thing, and not at all a given. I wonder if your love of gardening and the outdoors is something you shared with your grandparents, Beate?
Beautiful flowers, gorgeous photos, and that lovely Villeroy and Boch bowl. Stories, memories - these can't be broken like china. xxxxCurtisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10362184504889147455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900207826814243001.post-39606065274623555192014-10-07T18:29:09.950+02:002014-10-07T18:29:09.950+02:00Beautiful flowers, and very pretty bowl, precious ...Beautiful flowers, and very pretty bowl, precious gifts... Do you have their photos? Would be very interesting to see...

I've never met my Mom's parents - they both died long before I was born. I can't say that I felt very close to my grandma (on Dad's side), but I did at some point ask her about her ancestors and her life as a girl and young woman, their traditions etc. She remembered surprisingly a lot. I wrote everything down, but then lost that notebook, unfortunately. She spoke a very particular dialect, and I regret that I did not record her voice. As an adult, I have much more interest and many more questions to my Grandma, but, yes, too late now. And I very much remember my Granddad, even though he died when I was only 7, and we did not spend a lot of time together. He was very kind and loving, I remember loving spending time with him. I started walking with him, and I remember it - I was only 1 year old.
xxxxxxxxNatalia Lialinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07552652475347261756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900207826814243001.post-8269394061601721872014-10-07T17:44:13.966+02:002014-10-07T17:44:13.966+02:00What a beautiful tribute.I love that you've in...What a beautiful tribute.I love that you've inherited a great memory (like me!) and that Villeroy and Boch bowl. xxxVixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05263970600699632661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7900207826814243001.post-60704106591124224602014-10-07T11:29:38.954+02:002014-10-07T11:29:38.954+02:00Oh ja, meiner Großmutter war ich auch sehr nahe......Oh ja, meiner Großmutter war ich auch sehr nahe...hippyathearthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07252685927890963990noreply@blogger.com
